This design project sets out to re-imagine the restaurant space within the existing Rhino Lounge in Museum London, designed by the iconic Canadian architect Raymond Moriyama. The aim is to create an environment that not only pays homage to his cultural identity while engaging all five senses, resonating with Moriyama’s legacy of thoughtful and inclusive design. The goal of this project is to forge a concept that is both creative and inclusive, encapsulating a multi-sensory, culturally rich experience. The final design will showcase a restaurant that embraces social intelligence, innovative thinking, and sophisticated problem-solving, setting a new standard for the dining experience.

Inspired by the beauty of Japanese culture and paying homage to the heritage of Raymond Moriyama, an architect of Japanese descent, Enchanted is a space where calm luxury meets the intricate aesthetics of Japan. Enchanted leverages the harmonious blend of lighting, color, and acoustics to create an atmosphere that is both soothing and opulent.
My vision draws from three distinct inspirations to create a unique dining experience: the grace of water, capturing the mesmerizing texture of ripples; the magical allure of ‘The Night Circus’ by Erin Morgenstern, infusing the space with a sense of infinite wonder; and the vibrant contrasts and immersive light of Yayoi Kusama’s ‘Fireflies on Water,’ influencing the use of color and illumination. Together, these elements weave a design that is spatially interactive, employing texture, movement, and contrast to ‘enchant’ guests.
